DERA DANTA KILA ( RAJASTHAN )
|
This is what medieval settlements must truly have been like – two fortresses straddle the hills, their foundations laid in 1702 to house the army, the stables, and the royal residence of Thakur Amar Singh who was gifted the village by the maharaja of Jodhpur. Located 108 km fro Jaipur, and 48 km from Sikar, it has a palace that nestles between the two forts, and is now a heritage hotel.

In 1702 A.D the foundations of the two fortresses were laid. The fortresses had residential wing nestles in the shadow of the two fortresses located on the hill behind it. Built in acombination of Rajput and Mughal architecture , this has now been converted into a hotel . large spacoius rooms have been given modern touches , keeping the guest comfort in mind.
Huge open terraces invite peacocks and pigeons and it is quite normal to wake up to the sound of peacocks as they fly from one point of the fortress to the other. evenings are enjoyable under the stars with local musicians playing for entertainment.
