Umed Bhawan Palace |
|
Umed bhawan is one of the most beautiful palaces of Kota built in
1009 by Maharaj Umed Singh of kota. The palace was designed by sir Swinton
Jacob, who spent many years in Rajasthan and has quite a few palaces &
mansions to his credit.
The overall design of the palace is European, although traces of rajput
architecture can be found all over the palace like parapets, balustrades,
arches & decorative brackets. the interiors are mainly European in their
style.
There is an Edwardian drawing room, a banqueting hall packed with hunting
trophies, a billiard room and a well laid-out garden surrounding the
palace. There are courtyards and long courtyards and long corridors,
Italian marble floors, and some of the most exquisite paintings on the
ceilings jogging track, badminton court, cards room, two conference halls
and a bar are the facilities available. Special parties can also be

This colonial style building is situated on the right bank of the river Chambal
and commands a magnificent view. Its spacious rooms are graced with elegant
period furniture. The drawing and dining rooms are very eye catching, with many
personal affects of the royal family. All bedrooms are air-conditioned with
attached modern bathrooms, and are equipped with colour TV and telephone with
national and international access. Most rooms have a pleasing river view.
The well maintained
lawns and terrace gardens add to the style of gracious living. An abundance of
trees and general greenery in the riverside environ at Brijraj Bhawan Palace
ensures the presence of a wide variety of birds. Guests can play croquet on the
green lawns here and also enjoy a game of tennis. A badminton court too is being
made ready. In fact, guests are tempted to spend the entire winter day soaking
in the sun, relaxing, and doing nothing here.
Continental, Chinese, and Indian Cuisine is served including many specialities
of the Hadaoti region. The food is made under the personal supervision of the
royal family. Facilities available include laundry, fax the availability of
guides and taxis and ample parking. The hotel is very conveniently located being
5 Km from the airport, 3 Km from the railway station, 1.5 km from the centre of
town, and 1 Km from the bus stand.
The Hadaoti region (of which Kota is at the heart) abounds in places of tourist

Sukhdham, a sandstone mansion was built by the British in 1870. This heritage
property was named as Sukhdham in 1922 by late highness Umed Singhji Bahadur.
It used to be the official residence of the agency surgon. In 1929, it became
the residence of Thakur Prithvi Singhji, general officer commanding, the Kota
State forces, who had earlier served with the British Indian army. Now the
descendants of col. Thakur Prithvi Singhji are the there to welcome all the
travellers
