Introduction :

Running alongside the Kullu valley, the Kangra valley, equally beautiful, combines the charm of a Devonshire coomb with the steep silhouette of the Dolomites soaring up into the sky on either side. There are several tea gardens dedicated to the production of both green and black tea.

The beautiful Kangra valley stars near Mandi, runs north, then bends west and extends to Shahpur near Pathankot. There are a number of places of interest along the valley. The main Pathankot to Mandi road runs through the valley and there is a narrowgauge railway line from Pathankot as far as Jogindernagar. The Kangra school of painting developed in this valley. If Kangra is known for its agricultural and fruit produce, equally too is it the home of a school of miniature paintings that are highly prized. Kangra is a stronghold of faith and there are numerous temples here, shrines that are old and have been revered ever since the record of the history. Besides the natural beauty of Kangra valley, its cheerful people, hill paintings, temples, forts and adventure sports attract thousands of tourists every year from the world over. The people of the valley are well built and are known for their dedicated services to the nation as soldiers.

Adventure activities :

Kangra Valley, is an ideal place for adventure and sports activities like mountaineering, trekking, rock climbing and fishing , it is this valley which witness annually Hang-gliding rally. There are many peaks between 3500 metres to 5000 metres in Dhauladhar ranges. Most of the treks are operational from May to October. The regional mountaineering centre at Dharamsala provides technical know-how and equipment besides organising adventure courses.
