Ranvir Temple RANVIR TEMPLE
Built by Maharaja Ranbir Singh in 1883 A.D., this is the biggest Shiva Temple in North India. It has one central 'Lingam' measuring seven and a half feet in height (7.5ft) in black stone. There are huge idols of Ganesha, Kartikeya and Nandi Bull.

 

 

Raghunath temple RAGHUNATH TEMPLE
The most beautiful and splendid Temple complex in Northern India located in the heart of the city. This complex consists of 17 Temples. There is hardly any image of deity which is not represented here. This Temple is mainly dedicated to Lord Rama.

 

 

 

Mantalai MANTALAI
Situated on a height of 2,000 meters surrounded by lush deodar forests it is a beautiful scenic spot. It is believed that Lord Shiva had got married to Goddess Parvati here.

 

 

 


Krimchi KRIMCHI
One of the oldest Temple of Jammu. The architecture of the Temple depicts of Greek influences. A small hill resort Pancheri is at a short distance from this place.

 

 

 

Utterbehni UTTERBEHNI
The name refers 'a river that flows Northwards'. The river is as sacred as the Ganga. Devi originated at Gauri Kund on the orders of Lord Shiva to reward the land to Rishi Kashyap.

 

 

 

 

Maha Maya Temple MAHA MAYA TEMPLE
On the banks of River Tawi behind the Bahu Fort is the ancient Maha Maya Temple on a small garden surrounded by acres of wood.

 

 

 


Sudh Mahadev SUDH MAHADEV
Situated at an altitude of 1225 mtrs., about 120 kms. from Jammu. Pilgrims come to worship the 'Trishul' (trident) and a mace of Lord Shiva during the month of Sawan. The Devak stream originates at Sudh Mahadev and disappears among the rocks a few kilometres down-stream.

 

 

 

Gauri Kund GAURI KUND
The legendary spring where Goddess Parvati used to bathe before commencing her daily prayers at Sudh Mahadev. The spring is named after her 'Gauri Kund'.

 

 

 

Bawey wali Mata BAWEY WALI MATA
This famous temple of Maha Kali is inside the Bahu Fort overlooking the river tawi. It is said that Bawey Wali Mata is the presiding deity of Jammu. Every Tuesday and Sunday, pilgrims throng and jostle one another to worship the Goddess.

The city also has a number of churches. Of this the most famous and the oldest church is the Protestant Church.
