About Mysore

This charming, easy-going city has been a favourite with travelers - it's a manageable a size, enjoy a good climate and has chosen to retain and promote its heritage rather than replace it. The city is famous for its silk and is also a thriving sandalwood and incense center, through don't expect the air to be any more fragrant than that of the next town. 

Until Independence, Mysore was the seat of the maharajas of  Mysore, a princely state covering about a third of present-day Karnataka. The maharajas walled Indo -Saracenic palace is a major attraction.

MysoreThe railway station is on the north-western fringe of the city center, about a km from the main shopping street, Sayaji Roa Road. The central bus terminal is on the Bangalore Mysore Road, on the north-eastern fringe of the city center. Mysore Palace occupies the entire south-eastern sector of the city center. Chamundi Hills is an ever visible landmark to the south.
