Places To Eat
Mamallapuram has, as you
might expect, beachside restaurants serving attractively presented seafood in
relaxing setting. Most will show you the fresh fish, prawns , crabs and squid
before cooking them so you can make your choice. Here is some name of
restaurants---
Sea Shore Restaurant
on the beach, offers excellent fresh seafood. Tiger prawn is famous.
Luna Magica also on
the beach has a tank full of live lobster and prawns.
Moonrakers on Othavadai
St, attracts travelers like moths to a lamp. It's run by three friendly
brothers. The food's quite good and there's a good collection of western
magazines and tapes.
Village Restaurants
one of the first in town, is still very popular. It has an indoor section plus
an intimate garden terrace where you can dine under coconut palms overlooking a
small lake.
Tina Blue View is a
good place to eat, especially in the heat of the day, as the shady up stair area
catches any breeze that might be around. The service is slow but the mellow
atmosphere makes up for that. Cold beers are available.
Mamallapuram Bhavan,
opposite the bus stand, is an excellent place for south Indian vegetarian food.
You can eat well at standard Indian meals prices here.
