Delhi Golf Club
The 6972 yards, PAR 72, 18 Hole Golf Course was redesigned by Peter Thompson in 1977 – 78 and got a major fillip when it was chosen to host the first ever golf tournament at the Asian Games in 1982. More than 500 Golfers walk into History every day, as they play in the country’s busiest course. The Club also has a Nine Hole B Course used primarily by beginners. The first hole on the main course is a 522 yards, PAR 5, which doglegs to the left around a thorny bush rough.

Classic Golf Resort
The Classic Golf Resort has been constructed according to international standards and is world class in every respect. The process of sourcing construction material to meet international standards and the process of sending soil, sand, water, manure and grass samples overseas to recommended Nicklaus Research centers for tests was completed in 1996 before the course opened officially for play.
Special Tiff way 419 and Tiff Dwarf grass used world-wide on Nicklaus courses has been planted and multiplied under the full care and guidance of Nicklaus agronomists. Rainbird, the world leaders in golf course irrigation, laid down CGR’s irrigation network. The installed set up consists of computerized system with satellite controls for remote operation of sprinkler head groups and rain water run off protection, making CGR virtually self sufficient in its irrigation needs.
To ensure adherence to Nicklaus quality standards, the Paragon Golf Construction Company intermittently assigned golf experts from the fields of construction, agronomy and maintenance to survey the course. A team of international supervisors was stationed in Delhi for two years during the construction process. Landbase has tied up with Golden Bear International Club Services, a part of Golden Bear International USA to conceptualise, plan and set up standard operating procedures for the Golf & Country Club. Golden Bear experts visit India frequently to co-ordinate implementation plans with the planning and execution team at Classic Golf Resort.
The versatility of Nicklaus design is such, that to transform the course from a club golfer friendly layout, to a challenging open championship venue, a mere change of fairway width, height of rough, green speed and pin positions are required. Specifications for each of the above changes have been provided for the Wills Indian Open by Nicklaus Design.
