This beautiful park, covering 820 sq km in the forested foothills east of Haridwar, is best known for its wild elephants, numbering around 150 in all.
Besides elephants, the park contains some rarely seen tigers, and leopards, chital (spotted deer), which can he seen in herds of up to 250 at one time, sambar (India's largest species of deer), wild boars, sloth bears, barking deer, porcupines, jungle fowls, hombills and pythons.

Air: Nearest airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun, 24 km.
Rail: Nearest railhead is at Haridwar (55 km) and Dehradun (24 km).
Road: The national park is 220 km. from Delhi and 510 km from Lucknow.
